Remembering Sacagawea -- 2004Return to Special Events page
The Equinox Chamber Players (ECP) are pleased to perform the WORLD PREMIERE of
Woodwind Quintet No. 3 ("Sacagawea: Three Life Episodes") by David
Cleary. Commissioned by the Equinox Chamber Players (ECP), the work draws
inspiration from the life of Sacagawea, translator and good-will
ambassador for the Lewis and Clark expedition. Its three movements depict
her separation from her native Lemmi Shoshone tribe, her trek with
Lewis and Clark, and her death some years later. The music runs a wide
gamut of moods ranging from agitation to good-natured warmth to lamenting
reflection, demonstrating appeal to audiences ranging from new
concert-goers to seasoned listeners.
Please view the calendar page for more information about our
composer-in-residence educational events surrounding the premiere.
