The St. Louis Women's Chorale, directed by Scott Schoonover, and the Equinox Chamber Players have collaborated to create an evening performance surrounded by five educational events. Faces of St. Louis includes commissioned works by St. Louis composers inspired by St. Louis-themed poetry and literature. Featured works include commissioned premieres of Gay Spears' The Season of Singing and Barbara Harbach's A Love Supreme, inspired by poetry of St. Louis poet Cheryl Walker.
Dr. Barbara Harbach, Professor of Music at the University of Missouri-St. Louis holds academic degrees from Pennsylvania State University (B.A.), Yale University (M.M.A.), Musikhochschule (Konzertdiplom) in Frankfurt, Germany, and the Eastman School of Music (D.M.A.).
As a composer, Harbach has written symphonies, works for chamber ensemble, string orchestra, organ, harpsichord, musicals, choral anthems, film scores, modern ballets, and many arrangements for brass and organ of various Baroque works. Harbach is also the editor of Women of Note Quarterly. Harbach initiated Women in the Arts-St. Louis, a celebration of the achievements of women creators.
She has toured extensively as both concert organist and harpsichordist. Her appearances include recitals throughout the United States and Canada, Korea, Japan, Czechoslovakia, Denmark, Germany, Hungary, Yugoslavia and Russian Siberia, as well as solo and continuo roles with symphony orchestras.

Poet Cheryl Walker is a published poet inspired by the spirits of love, victory, jazz, blues, and hip-hop. Her works have been published in Break Word With The World (Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville), Drumvoices Revue (Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville), Eyeball Magazine (First Civilizations, Inc.), Mischief, Caprice and other Poetic Strategies (Red Hen Press), St. Louis Muse (Vaughn Cultural Center) and When the Lions Roar (Washington University).
Cheryl Walker is Chair of the University of Missouri Board of Curators and received a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from the University of Missouri-Rolla and a law degree from Washington University.

The Chorale has become well known for the quality and diversity of its repertoire and has performed concert tours in England, Wales and Italy, as well as across the U.S., including Carnegie Hall in November, 2005.
