August 5th, 2008 6:30 p.m. Inspired by the 2008-2009 Olympic Season, the Equinox Chamber Players kick off their new season with Olympic Harmony! designed to celebrate the coming together of the five continents. As designated by the five Olympic Rings, one ring per continent, Equinox will perform music of the Americas, Asia, Oceana, Africa and Europe.
The evening begins with an international menu of tapas, sponsored by Whole Foods prepared and served by Choices Catering Brokerage. Accompanying the music and food is a silent auction of international items. Please join us for the fun and know that you are supporting our Olympic Harmony! educational outreach this coming season with nine outreach events and four public concerts. September 27, 2008 1:00 p.m. The Equinox Chamber Players perform on Rhapsody In Bloom program at the Missouri Botanical Garden, Ridgway Center (Main Building 2nd Floor). Rhapsody in Bloom is a day-long event of classical music and contemporary dance at several locations throughout the Garden from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Included with admission or membership. October 22, 2008, 12 p.m. The Equinox Chamber Players present a Master Class to students of the St. Charles Community College at 4601 Mid Rivers mall Drive, Cottleville, MO, 63376. Additional details to come soon.
October 26, 2008, 3 p.m. St. Charles Community College presents the Equinox Chamber Players in concert in the Donald D. Shook Fine Arts building located on the campus at 4601 Mid Rivers mall Drive, Cottleville, MO, 63376. Tickets: $13 general admission; $8 seniors; $5 with SCC student I.D.
November 2, 2008, 2:30 p.m. The Shepley Program of Music and Art presents the Equinox Chamber Players at Christ Church Cathedral, 12th and Locust. Featuring a sneak-preview of Beth Denisch's Suite of Five Blessings, commissioned by the Equinox Chamber Players in conjunction with their Olympic Harmony program. Admission free. December 30, 2009, 2:40 p.m. WYNC.org (93.9 fm, am 820) plays Phillip Bimstein's Dark Winds Rising, recorded by the Equinox Chamber Players (Albany Records).
February 9, 2009, 7:90 a.m., WTUL 20.20 Live Journal airs Equinox Chamber players performing Dark Winds Rising (Albany Records - Classical).
February 12-15, 2009, Festival of African & African-American Music Features Four Days of Special Events. The St. Louis African Chorus will present an extraordinary variety of musical events celebrating composers and artists of African descent during its African Music Festival. The four-day festival, from February 12 through 15, features internationally acclaimed performers including the Equinox Chamber Players, Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra, soprano Dawn Padmore, pianists Darryl Hollister, William Chapman-Nyaho, Silvia Belfiore, oboist Althea Ifeka, flutist Wendy Hymes, violinist Rachel Barton Pine, Winneba Youth Choir, Webster University Concer Choir, as well as the conductor Marlon Daniel.
