The Equinox Chamber Players are celebrating National Women's History Month-2003 and bringing their excitement and music to several locations in St. Louis and Boston. Their multi-faceted project began by commissioning Boston-based composer Beth Denisch to write for woodwind quintet and percussion. Selected from over thirty composers, her winning proposal to write Women, Power and the Journey includes movements inspired by the accomplishments of Madam C.J. Walker, Mary Engelbreit, Katherine Dunham, and Tina Turner.

With Dr. Denisch in residence, the Equinox Chamber Players will perform the world premiere at the Missouri Historical Society on March 9th, 2003 on the Second Sunday Series. The concert will be surrounded by six additional workshops and performances of music by women composers, including the new work. Read below for dates and times. This project is being funded with generous support from the Regional Arts Commission, the Missouri Arts Council, the Arts & Education Council, and many other corporate and private donors.
