2009 Festival of African and African-American Music Features Four Days of Special Events

The St. Louis African Chorus will present an extraordinary variety of musical events celebrating composers and artists of African descent during its African Music Festival. The four-day festival from February 12 through 15, features internationally acclaimed performers including the Equinox Chamber Players, Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra, soprano Dawn Padmore, pianists Darryl Hollister, William-Chapman Nyaho, Silvia Belfiore, oboist Althea Ifeka, flutist Wendy Hymes, violinist Rachel Barton Pine, Winneba Youth Choir, Kirkwood Community College Choir, Webster University Concert Choir, as well as conductor Marlon Daniel.

Tickets can be purchased through PayPal at this link or by calling 314-652-6800. An all-day pass is $50 for adults and $30 for students. Single event tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for students. An all-day access total package is $100 for adults and $50 for students.

In addition to the outstanding performances, there will be discussions with some of the world's foremost African heritage scholars, and the Oxford University Press will hold a special ceremony for the launch of William Chapman-Nyaho's Piano Music of Africa and the African Diaspora and Fred Onovwerosuoke's Songs of Africa.
